THE CORPSe OF DISCOVERY
a full-length play (approx. 120 minutes)

The journey of Lewis & Clark across the continent of North America 200 years ago was a defining moment in our history. Lewis & Clark claimed the entire continent, east to west, for the United States, initiated relationships with Indian tribes, and were the first Americans to see the Rocky Mountains, the Grizzly Bear, the Coyote, the Antelope, and the Tepee.

THE CORPS[e] OF DISCOVERY tells the story of Lewis & Clark in the common contemporary language of America--the language of television shows, advertisements, film genres, press conferences, infomercials, business meetings, and reality shows. Looking at the journey of Lewis & Clark through the same media prism that we see current events makes their voyage contemporary, another media event like the moon landing, the fall of the Berlin Wall, or the Iraq War.

This is our story, told in our language.

THE CORPS[e] OF DISCOVERY was first produced in a workshop production of the Praxis Theatre Project.
