A Moment out of Time

I'm having a very asynchronous, anachronistic experience today. I am posting from the car. I am using my black MacBook that is connected through the Internet via Bluetooth and my Treo 650. I am listening to satellite radio, playing the Sex Pistols. I am driving a rented PT Cruiser, which draws its inspiration from cars from the 50's, but is actually tricked out with lots of nice modern features like an aux port in the stereo, satellite radio, and built-in easy pass. Smash and I are driving to my parents for Christmas, listening the whole way to Willam Gibson's novel PATTERN RECOGNITION, which was written three years ago, and it shows. It's all about a specific recent moment in history (MacCubes for example, are delightful recent anachronisms) but because of the way Gibson writes, it feels like a futuristic fantasy. And now it's the past. Merry Christmas!
